An Update

Life has been good this last little while. Lee and I have been keeping ourselves busy at the close of the year 2013. We had a wonderful time creating some family traditions and keeping ones that have come from our families. Lee did a great job making his first big batch of tamales. He bought all of the supplies with two neighbors who led him to, what seems to be, the only Mexican grocery store in our town. He taught me how to make the masa, prepare the corn husks, chillies, and meat. It was quite the process, but it was very fun to learn. It was also awesome to watch my hunk of a man cook up a real masterpiece. He is a great husband. Cooking is great but occasionally it becomes not-so-great when it is the chore that seems to return faster than you bargained for (or so you thought!). Lee is willing to help me out on those bad nights when I just don't have the time, energy, or motivation to cook. I make up for it by cooking him an extra good dinner on another night.

While visiting my sister for Christmas, Lee and I got to see the Henry Ford Museum. It was so cool to see the developing technologies before your eyes. We spent some time looking at machines made for agriculture, and then seeing the difference with the Industrial Revolution. We spent most of our time looking at new technologies that emerged with each generation of time. It was cool to go into a room and see that that is how your grandparent's or great grandparent's house would have looked. We also read and learned about the Civil Rights Movement, Womens Rights, The Revolutionary and Civil Wars. It was a grand place with a GRAND train inside of it. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The only downside... we both run out of steam and get really grouchy if we don't eat well every few hours. We took care of that and had a delicious meal in their cafe'.

Lee has his mind on the GMAT and he is looking at graduate schools. He wants to study Supply Chain Management, which he studied for his Undergrad, and he wants to be successful. He is dedicated and smart. I know that wherever he ends up, he will be in the right place for him. I am glad I don't have to take the GMAT. It looks like not-a-lot-of-fun. I am interested in learning.

Thanks to Lee's sister and her husband, we learned about taking free online college level courses through EdX or Coursera. We are taking one for FUN! Call us weird, but we like to do stuff like that.

This was the 5th anniversary of our first date. Our first date was Oct 25, 2008. We went bowling and had each color of skittle represent something silly we had to do (spin three times, underdog, backwards, wrong arm,...). We picked a bowling alley in Noblesville, IN, and bowled the night away. It was a lot of fun to be surprised with this date night.

We were cool enough to make gluten free and dairy free pies for Thanksgiving, and they turned out pretty good too.

We made some gingerbread houses with two couples in our ward.

Lee is a master at making tamales.

I was actually supposed to be in the driver's seat. this was the first car that sold itself because of luxury for the women. In the picture behind us, the female is driving. The seats were soft and it was designed to be easier to drive.

We just found humor in this. We are nerds.
