We are Certainly Not Use to Tornado Warnings!

Here is a little update for you. We have mostly been doing the repetitive things in life... work, eat, sleep, work again. Life can be overwhelming sometimes. It doesn't seem to go as planned in our own little brains, but it is nice to know that sometimes it goes much better. The start of Fall always brings things into perspective as the Holiday times come. Many people have a gratitude list and start to anticipate this time of year spent with our family and friends. I am terrible at gratitude lists. I try, but I am not good at it. I feel grateful in my heart, but I am not the best at expressing it (especially publicly). I have, on the other hand, noticed some small acts of kindness from those around me. I wanted to list just a few. Hopefully it will brighten your day, as I know it will mine.

- There is a bagger at the local grocery store who always calls me "trouble." He is very optimistic and always makes me laugh when I shop. He remembers me and that makes me feel important.
- My husband is good at doing the dishes and I don't have to ask him. His mom would probably call this a miracle, but I know he does acts of service for me because of his love and kindness.
-The kids I teach in primary are so full of happiness. They remind me to stop and smile at the little things. Kids are pretty great!
-My parents encourage me when I am needing a little push and are there for me when I need them. Growing up can be tough! No one can replace your parents, sometimes you just need their wisdom.
- A girl at the library held the door for me with a big smile on her face.

I am grateful for the kind things other people do. It means a lot when you are looking for those things and when you find them.

Lee and I had an experience that also put things in to perspective. On Sunday, there was a big storm coming through. Our Bishop cancelled church after Sacrament Meeting. We went home and just had a relaxing Sunday. Then the siren came on for a severe storm/ tornado warning. I am such a Utah girl. Earthquake drills are definitely in the head, tornado drills not so much. I had a "freak out" moment and asked Lee where we should go in the apartment. He is more visual than auditory and decided to take a look outside and go outside. I was a mess because I was sure a tornado was going to come and sweep him away. I can let my imagination get the best of me! He told me to come and look at the storm line. I wouldn't go outside. He finally came back in and I was relieved. I am much more auditory, and I didn't like hearing those sirens for 30 minutes. People from Indiana, I am sure, were not as worried as I was that day. I think it was reported that twenty three tornadoes touched down in parts of Indiana. We were safe, but Illinois got it worse and there were parts of the state that were not as fortunate as we were. That made me sad that I had it good while someone else didn't. This is now a funny moment for us because Lee was calm and passive. I was the opposite of that. Thankfully we have each other. We're a pretty good team!

That's our little update. :)
